From Reedy Creek to Granville with fashionable love
Hey there fashion lovers! I hope you liked my last piece. It really came from the heart. This week I want to talk about an unbelievable fashion house that is as big as heaven and as respected as royalty can be. This fashion house needs no more introductions… I give to you, Christian Dior (also known as only Dior).
The fashion house of Christian Dior was open in 1946 by an extremely talented artist called Christian Dior. This brilliant designer was born in the small seaside town of Granville, Manche in France. His designs were and are still consider chic, glamorous and absolutely impeccable.
I would like to look at the evolution of Dior throughout the years until the latest collection produced by the house.
For the 1960’s, Marc Bohan gave to the Dior House a focus on the glamorous women, the Housewives that still have a very chic and elegant lifestyle. This collection for me personally brings to mind the perfect society wife.
This feel of glamour, style and elegance was kept by Marc Bohan as a constant throughout the 1970’s, with a hippie, love and peace feeling.
For the 1980’s, where Pop, Rock and Androgyny was a huge part of the global culture, the House of Christian Dior also move forward introducing these elements into his designs, still keeping the elegance and glamour that is signature of this powerhouse.
During the 1990’s, The House of Dior put John Galliano as the Creative Director making the designs in the collections for this era more sexy, giving women the ability to feel desirable and sexy with glamour and elegance.
For 2000’s, Dior became a more edgy house, keeping up with the millennium and the beginning of a new era. The creative director of this fashion house at the time was still John Galliano, whose designs are bold and innovative pieces of art.
The latest collection produced by Dior is its Fall/Winter 2011/2012. This collection follows the Christian Dior signature style… Elegance with a twist!
Love,
Stef
