If New York drives you positively mad and you have been dreaming of Michael Cera for 5 straight years, perhaps you could still remember this 2008 teen movie, Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist. A straight bass player in an “all queer” band called the Jerk-Offs, Nick O’ Leary (played by the ‘Juno’ boy Michael Cera) is a teenager from Hoboken, New Jersey. His life was totally dependent on music, love and New York. His recent break up with Tris made him all the more trapped in creating breakup mix CDs and later on met Norah Silverberg, who happened to love Nick’s taste in music.
New York and Indie Music
After its theatrical release on October 2008 with $11 million gross on its debut weekend, Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist’s original soundtrack became a sudden talk of the town. In fact, online gaming communities such as binguez were abuzz with the ‘indie rock’ tracks from the Vampire Weekend and Submarine. The screenwriter, Lorene Scafaria is said to have added a few ideas for the film and went on to include tracks from Bloc Party and Frou Frou. However, in the final cut of the film, most of the music has been cut down by editor Myron Kerstein and music supervisor Linda Cohen. The music was chosen based wholly on the objective of finding “the best music you haven’t heard yet.” Songs that are included in the playlist are from bands based in New York City. Several tracks from the album such as Submarine’s “Xavia” became one of the banner songs of Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, next to Ottoman by Vampire Weekend.

Many of you should know, I work from home. When you work from home, sometimes it can get really boring, because you are always sitting on the same chair, in the same room for hours. That’s why I decided to create a space in which I could feel happy and comfortable all day. There is no need of spending a lot of money, all you need is some bits and pieces that will make your room unique.
